Congratulations SLO Transit!
Information released by the SLO City
Council indicates that the SLO Transit system
carried over one million riders for the second
consecutive year. During the Fiscal Year
2008-09 1,032,232 passengers used the system with
Cal Poly students making up a significant share
(60%).
The next Fiscal Year will present a challenge
to keep increasing ridership, due to the
impact of reduced sales tax
revenue. |

| Hello
Morgen,
We are just catching our breath after our
office move, only a block from our old office
(1114 Marsh Street). Many thanks for your
patience during the last few weeks as we didn't
have email or phones. Now that things are back to
normal, feel free to stop by and say hi!
We are very excited to announce a new service
this month: Online bus pass purchasing! This is
the first time bus passes have been available
online in San Luis Obispo County, making taking
the bus that much easier for commuters. We're also
gearing up for Rideshare Month in October called
the Commute for Cash Challenge. Imagine being able
to win your commute savings in cash...well you
can! This double bonus will provide a
fun opportunity for you to encourage biking,
walking, bussing, vapooling, carpooling and
telecommuting at your workplace. Start creating
your teams now and get the Commute for Cash
Challenge sneak peek at our Rideshare Mixer
September 15th at Creekside Brewing Company.
Also, free bikes provided by our Workplace
Bike Sharing Program are going fast. If you want
to start this program at your office, contact us
soon at 781-1385.
Sharing the Ride,
The Rideshare

live close to a pass outlet or do not have the
time to visit an outlet during normal business

through PayPal, a secure site, and most
credit cards and e-checks are accepted.

Workplace Bike Sharing
Program!
The first employer to take advantage of this
program is the City of Arroyo Grande and their
bikes will be delivered on Friday, August 7th
along with helmets and
locks.
Here's a reminder on how the program
works:
1. We provide your
office/department with 2 free bikes (one women's,
one men's), two helmets and two locks
2. We provide you with a
turn key program that includes waiver forms for
your employees/coworkers to sign and a
check-out/bike inventory system
3. You make sure members in
your office who use the
bikes take a one hour bike safety class
offered by the SLO County Bicycle
Coalition (can be provided during lunch time
at your office)
4. You are in charge of the
bike's maintenance and must record trips used on
the bike in TripLink (so we can measure the amount
of emissions reduced by the program, allowing us
to advocate for more bikes)
To learn more about the program and get
started, email Kelsie at kgreer@rideshare.org or call her
at 781-1385.

Employee Commute
Surveys
Did you know that Rideshare provides a free
Employee Commute Survey to assess how
employees at your office get to work and their
interests towards commute alternatives? The
surveys are conducted yearly to asses improvements
or declines in commute behaviors. Rideshare
provides the online survey, evaluates the data and
modifies or develops your Trip Reduction Plan
based upon the results, all at no cost. It
might be time for you to conduct your Employee
Commute Survey again, or for the first time.
Contact Morgen to get more
information. |

Commute for
Cash Challenge Rideshare Month is
October, and we're kicking things up a notch this
year with a Commute for Cash Challenge. The
Challenge encourages teams of 5 or less not to
drive alone to work. Teams must make at least 10
trips per week using alternative
transportation to be eligible for weekly
prizes. Each team who logs their trips online
(similar to the Commuter Challenge for Bike Month)
will also be eligible to win that weeks commute
savings back in cash (limited to $75.00 per team
member). In addition, there will be random
individual prize drawings and special
events.
The Planning Committee has some fun
ideas up their sleeve. More details will be
available at the Mixer on September 15th.
