safe routes to school
Safe Routes to School is a national and international movement to enable and encourage K-12 students to walk and bicycle to school. Through the use of the 5 E’s (Education, Encouragement, Enforcement, Engineering and Evaluation), programs and projects are being developed to create a safe, healthy and fun environment for walking and biking to school.

benefits
By encouraging bike and walking, the Safe Routes to School Program increases the health and safety of our children by improving air quality around the school, integrating exercise into their daily routine and reducing traffic congestion. Students who walk and bike to school are also more prepared to tackle their daily school tasks and have more fun getting to and from school.
Rideshare was awarded a Federal Safe Routes to School Grant and can offer staff support and resources to get your school walking & rolling. We can offer program planning assistance, parent information sessions, a Safe Routes to School Start-up Kit, financial support, events and activities, safety information and materials such as flyers, posters and incentives.
Rideshare offers grants and mini grants throughout the school year to help fund your Safe Routes projects and activities. Whether you want to host a onetime event or kick off a year long program, we have funding to help get you rolling.
