Employee Transportation Coordinator Overview
Over 80 employers are participating in the Transportation Choices Program. Each employer has a designated Employee Transportation Coordinator (ETC), or in simplier terms, someone in the office who acts as the main contact for transportation information.

Interested in developing a transportation program and/or becoming the Employee Transportation Coordinator (ETC)? Contact us at
 cblake@rideshare.org
  Your Transportation Information Center
It is important to make sure your Transportation Information Center is up-to-date. Don't have one? Let us know and we'll bring one over. Also, let us know if you need to restock some of your materials.

Your information center should have:
-- RTA 9, 10, 12A, 12B Schedules
-- SLO Transit Schedule
-- Paso Express & NCS Schedules
-- County Bike Map
-- Regional Ride Guide
-- Rideshare Brochure
-- SLO Bicycle Coalition Bike Confidence Brochure

Employee Commute Survey
This simple online survey assesses how your employees get to work and their interests towards commute alternatives. We provide the online survey, evaluate the data and develop a Trip Reduction Plan based upon the survey results.

Trip Reduction Plan
Trip Reduction Plans are based on information compiled from the Employee Commute Survey. Participating employers receive a detailed report of their employees current commute patterns and recommendations for trip reduction. The plan is presented to management/staff and helps to identify and implement next steps. For more information about receiving a plan contact
mmarshall@rideshare.org.

The Workplace Bike Sharing Program
This service provides bike sharing for employers in the Transportation Choices Program.

Here's how it works:
1. We provide your office/department with 2 free bikes (one women's, one men's), two helmets and two locks
2. We provide you with a turn key program that includes waiver forms for your employees/coworkers to sign and a check-out/bike inventory system
3. You make sure members in your office who use the bikes take a one hour bike safety class offered by the SLO County Bicycle Coalition (can be provided during lunch time at your office)
4. You are in charge of the bike's maintenance and must record trips used on the bike in TripLink (so we can measure the amount of emissions reduced by the program, allowing us to advocate for more bikes)

Many thanks to the Honor Farm for donating the bikes! To learn more about the program and get started, email Kelsie at
kgreer@rideshare.org or call her at 781-1385.

Pretax Information
Did you know that the monthly cost for a transit pass, vanpool fee or cycling expenses can be deducted from the employee’s paycheck before taxes are applied? This means the employee saves about 37% of the cost for not driving alone.  The employer also saves money through reducing their payroll total. For more information on tax-based Incentives, view our Q&A form. To get a copy of the County's pretax form, click here: Pretax Form

Telework Program

Teleworking, also known as telecommuting, is great commute alternative, as it removes the need to commute all together.  The goal of telework is to bring work to the employees rather than bringing employees to work.  As a result, teleworkers spend less time on the road traveling to and from the office, and more time doing work and other valuable activities.  Download a Telework Policy here.
