Safe Routes to School

The Safe Routes to School program is a national and international movement to enable and encourage K-12 students to walk and bicycle to school. Through the use of the "5 Es" (Education, Encouragement, Enforcement, Engineering and Evaluation), programs and projects are being developed to create a safe, healthy and fun environment for walking and biking to school. Safe Routes to School programs also enrich the quality of children’s lives and benefit communities by reducing traffic, improving the air we breathe and enhancing neighborhood safety.

What we're really talking about here is finding fun and safe ways for kids to get to school. After all, kids in San Luis Obispo County deserve Safe Routes to School.
