SLO Regional Rideshare is assisting seniors (thru senior centers and other groups) to take bus trips within the County. If you would like to be involved in one of these groups, or have a group who would like to take their first steps in the transit world, please contact Cindy Blake @ 781-4362 for more information.

Following a successful presentation at the Paso Robles Senior Center recently, field trips are being arranged in May on Paso Express and RTA Route 9. Contact Cindy at 781-4362 if you would like to join the rides being planned.

Mobility Management Program
SLO Regional Rideshare recently received a grant funded by the Federal Job Access Commute (JARC) Program, which will assist with the following goals:

• Provide regional leadership and promote dialogue between public transit operators and human services agencies or organizations; and
• Bridge the commonly found “communication gap” between the human services and public transit agencies; and
• Further the dialog and increase coordination among all public transit operators to better service the trip needs identified by stakeholders.

In addition, Ride-On Transportation received a New Freedom Grant for Mobility Coordination to promote the use of public transportation and provide rides to social services agencies at a discount when public transit, dial-a-ride, shuttle and Runabout services cannot be applied.

Together our agencies will assist with trip planning assistance, transit field trips and providing up to date information on the transportation options in the County.

OSHER LIFELONG LEARNING INSTITUTE (OLLI)
How about these surprising facts?  32 million senior citizens increasingly rely on public transit as their driving ability decreases with age and traveling by bus is the safest way to get to your destination.  SLO Regional Rideshare, in conjunction with Cal Poly Continuing Education, is planning another course, starting in June.  Participants  will learn how to read transit schedules and organize trip planning throughout the County, together with assessing available bus pass options.  They will also be apprised of other available senior mobility services.  Dates will be announced shortly.
