TripLink calendar. It takes seconds and you’ll be rewarded for your efforts. If you are already in the system just continue to keep track of your commute!
First figure out what mode best suits you. Here are some motivational tips to get you going.
How far away do you live from work? |
So you live over 10 miles away. Your new Low Carbon Diet will probably eliminate two mode groups: cycling and walking. Consider more flexible options like vanpooling, carpooling or taking the bus. |
What is your work culture? |
Your worksite supports family and flexible schedules; that's great. You’ll stick to your Low Carbon Diet when you let others know what you are doing. Mention your goals at a staff meeting. Ask for the support from your managers. Get others involved! Share this poster. |
Do you need the use of your car during the day? |
You’ll make the perfect carpool partner—and you can be the driver. You’ll have access to your car during the day, but reduce the carbons going to and from work by taking along a partner. Find a carpool partner using TripLink. |
Do you have shower/locker facilities? |
Showers and lockers make it a whole lot easier to take the Low Carbon Diet. With the right facilities, just like good food, you are on your way to a healthy lifestyle. |
Is your worksite near a bus stop? |
Yes, that's perfect. Now all you need to do is have one of our personal trainers plan out your next trip by calling 781-4362 or emailing admin@rideshare.org. |
Is the worksite conveniently located for cyclists? |
Reducing your carbon load is easy when you have accommodations to keep you motivated. Bring your clothes in on a Monday by car and use your bike throughout the week. If you live close you might not even need to take a shower or bring baby wipes to keep fresh--your coworkers will support your new lifestyle. |
Are there sidewalks or walkways near your worksite? |
If you live close enough and the accommodations are reasonable, you’ll find yourself walking to work more often and you’ll be more inclined to keep moving for lunch or during breaks. | |
| Now that you have gotten better perspective on where you are starting your commute from, you’ll have a better idea what mode will fit your lifestyle. Above all, make a date with yourself to start the Low Carbon Diet. You’ll see the results of your efforts no time.
