Bike Month 2009, Chain Reaction! This local and national celebration of bicycling encourages people of all ages and abilities to ride bikes instead of driving cars. Bike Month 2009’s theme was Chain Reaction. Commuter Bike Challenge This year's online Commuter Bike Challenge was about getting as many people as possible from an organization/company to ride a bike during May. To participate, organization leaders simply had to sign up their organization and then  encourage co-workers to hop on their bike and record their trips and miles. Now that May is over, the Commuter Bike Challenge has officially come to a close and the results are fantastic. Great job everyone! 718 people registered and, logged 13,761 trips rode 43,038.48 miles   reduced 34,091 lbs of harmful emissions and saved 1,292 gallons of gas!   AMAZING!  Winning Organizations:          3-6 Ad Dividers: 66.67%   7-24 The Establishment:100%   25-99 Cygnet Software: 64.86%   100-499 Caltrans: 28%   500+ City of San Luis Obispo:10.81%   Most New Bicycle Commuters REC Solar   *Winners were first determined by participation percentage.
