Special Event Road Closures

Numerous road closures will be in effect Tuesday, May 16, 2017 for the Amgen Tour of California.

The California Highway Patrol will oversee rolling closures on highways 166, 227 and 1. While the cyclists will not be racing along Highway 101, several on- and off-ramps will be closed while cyclists race along adjacent roads. Caltrans has posted electronic message boards in the affected areas.

For the start of the race in Pismo Beach, Dolliver/Highway 1 will be closed for approximately 20 minutes. Other closures include:

To offset the closures, free rides will be offered all day on city buses and the trolley, which will run its loop from 1:30 to 7:00 p.m.

At Cuesta College, where spring semester finals will be taking place, students, staff, and visitors are encouraged to arrive on campus no later than 2:45 p.m. to avoid road closures, which are expected to last for approximately 45 minutes. Those closures include:

  • O’Connor Way
  • Colusa Avenue
  • Hollister Road
  • Campus entrance points at Highway 1 and Hollister Road and at O’Connor Way

An area to view the race will be available in Parking Lot 1 next to Hollister Road.

The finish line is on Harbor Street at Napa Avenue in Morro Bay. There will be rolling closures on the following streets:
