Bike Friendly Business Network

Here is how the Bike Friendly Business Network works!

The goal of this new pilot program is to increase biking to the downtown SLO area, bring in business to the downtown core, and incentivize the support of bicycling downtown. With this program, employers would be recognized for their efforts to encourage a more welcoming atmosphere for bicycling employees, customers, and the community.

For Businesses:

Businesses participate by opting in to become a Bike Friendly Business.
In return they receive additional promotion in the following forms:

  • A decal for their window stating it is a Bike Friendly Business
  • Listing on the Bike Friendly Business page of the Rideshare website
  • Feature in the Rideshare newsletter – one business per month (12,000 subscribers)
  • First access to Rideshare’s Employer Mini-Grant Program (up to $600 to support active transportation).
  • Promotion on our social media channels
  • Assistance applying for the League of American Bicyclists Bike Friendly Business Network (nationally recognized)

Employers are required to check off 3 items on the provided list. Review the checklist below, complete and check off 3 total tasks in any category. Then fill out the short form linked above or email [email protected].

Task List

For the Public/Customers:

Customers of the downtown area receive a punch card [Cards will be available starting in May. Find them at our office or at a Bike Month event!]. When you bring your helmet in (to the business) and present it at the counter, you’ll receive a punch in your Bike Friendly Business Network card. When all 8 visits are accomplished and you have an iRideshare.org account you’ll receive a $15 gift card to a downtown SLO Business. You can either drop off your punch card in-person (at 1114 Marsh St) or mail it to our office.
