SOME CHANGES TO THIS EVENT HAVE OCCURRED. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR THE MOST CURRENT INFORMATION.

Poetry Church is an ongoing community event that focuses on a different theme for each gathering, though the basis of the event is always a fun and safe gathering of community in the name of sharing poetry, music, all forms of self-expression, and education. The focus will be solely on bicycle folklore for the duration of this Poetry Church event.

Update from Poetry Church:

We the planners of this gathering are writing to inform that there has been a slight change in the plan for Saturday evening of May 16th @ 5:55 p.m.  As before, we are still meeting at the downtown Bank Of America parking lot and leaving on our community bike ride at that time BUT due to some logistical realities outside of our control, the actual drive-in movie at the Sunset Drive-In Theatre has been taken out of the program!  We are so sorry to inform all of you cyclists about that who may have been so very excited about this potential and we assure you that we are already hard at work on making this drive-in/bike-in properly happen for next summer, but in the meantime rest assured that we have a stellar event planned for this Saturday night, May 16th, 2015.   We are still retaining the event name because we think it has a certain ring to it and the event still absolutely will end up at the Grange Hall(2880 Broad Street) at approximately 8:30 p.m. for a Vegan Thai Curry Feast free for all cyclists, a short poetry and music show, a group viewing of the bicycling classic film ‘the Triplets of Belleville’ on our very own big screen in the Grange Hall, and afterwards a closing dance party.  To anyone looking forward to the Sunset Drive-In itself, our deepest apologies for not making this addendum sooner!  We assure you if you make this event, though, you will not be sorry!  It is going to be an awesome time!  The actual community Bike Ride portion of this event will be like a treasure hunt of experiences, culminating in 3 stops along the way which will each feature a short, jam-packed live show, each of the 3 shows featuring not only live poetry readings but live acoustic music sets, stand-up comedy performances, AND dance rituals.  Please try to come,  we are sure to have a lot of fun and grow stronger as a community through this activity!  See you soon!
